LightGuard Crosswalk Warning System Wins Washington State Award
Over the summer, the award-winning LightGuard Crosswalk Warning System will be installed at ten and perhaps more locations throughout the City of Kirkland, Washington. The City of Kirkland was recently the recipient of a special pedestrian safety award from the Washington Traffic Safety Commission (WTSC) in recognition of Kirklands’ experimental illuminated crosswalk system. The patent pending system, called the LightGuard Crosswalk Warning System, is manufactured in Santa Rosa by LightGuard Systems, Inc.
CALTRANS has recently announced plans to adopt standards and specification for crosswalk pavement lights and has also issued guidelines for the use of the system in California. The Kirkland sites are the first in the western US outside of California’s to test the system and the first in the nation to evaluate the effectiveness of the device under snowplow rubber tip blade conditions. For further information please contact LightGuard Systems, Inc at (707) 542-4547.
