These signage systems provide advance warning to motorists of required road stops. They can be utilized as free standing stop signs, or in conjunction with warning signs of all types. They can be customized for site-specific applications with in-pavement signal lights, overhead beacons, and/or other signalling devices.

LED Enhanced Signs
The sign pictured is a free standing, solar powered, radar-activated stop sign with in-pavement red colored LED signal lights. These systems need to have FHWA “authorization to experiment.” We will be happy to assist those entities wishing to gain authorization for this use.
The ActiveStop™ system is a prime example of the versatile utility of our systems. These on-demand, visually vivid signs alert the motorist to STOP.
The LED border enhanced stop sign has 8 bars with 3 high intensity red LED lights in each bar. These signs can be radar activated at a predetermined distance by approaching vehicles. These products are ideal when standard overhead traffic control devices are not warranted due to site locations or financial constraints.
ActiveStop™ sign systems operate on DC current. These systems draw minimal amperage with low power demands. Depending on location, they can be solar powered.
Some configurations of These LED enhanced sign systems may be considered "experimental" by the FHWA. However, a qualified Traffic Engineer may exercise “sound engineering judgment” to install these types of systems in desired locations. There are several ActiveStop™ sites throughout the United States.
Warranty and Maintenance
LightGuard Systems™ offers a two year on the LED enhanced signage and a three year conditional warranty on its in-pavement signal module components. These systems operate on DC current and can be solar powered.
When required, maintenance on our signal heads is simple. There are four bolts to remove and a plug to disconnect. A malfunctioning signal head can be replaced in a few minutes. Each generation of signal head is designed to retro-fit back into older systems.
