Automatic Activation Bollard
LightGuard Systems Part Number: LGS-T3
Description: Automatic Pedestrian Detection Bollard

LightGuard Automatic Activation Bollard

Automatic Activation Bollard

  • Aesthetically Pleasing
  • Optional Audible Sounds
  • Easily Installed In Sidewalk
  • Simple Control Panel Installations
  • 12VDC Operation (Down To 9VDC)
  • Recognized As “The Place to Cross”
  • Internally Illuminated Courtesy Light
  • Directional Detecting Infrared Sensors

Automatic activation consists of “gateways” comprised of a pair of bollards. Each bollard contains built-in sensor module. These modules project and receive infrared light beams to the opposing bollard module.

A pair of bollard devices are placed opposing each other at either end of the crosswalk zone entrances. Typically, there are a total of 4 bollards per crosswalk.

As pedestrians enter into a crosswalk zone they pass between the bollards and automatically activate the Smart Crosswalk™ system.

The bollard “gate” system is directionally sensitive. It is only activated when entering the crosswalk zone and not when exiting.

These bollard are capable of accommodating up to a 60’ wide crosswalk entrance zone. The bollard “system” was developed and “pioneered” by LightGuard.

This activation method has the highest degree of reliability of any known automatic activation/detection for IRWL enhanced crosswalk systems. Our success has generated "imitation" products.

Each bollard contains an internal courtesy light making it visible at night. The bollards design is to “invite” pedestrians to enter a crosswalk at a desired location.

Manual Push Button Activation
LightGuard Systems Part Number: LGS-PBA
Description: Manual Push Button Activation Device

LightGuard Manual Push Button Device

Manual Push Button Activation Device

  • ADA Compliant
  • Easy Electrical Connections
  • Easily Mounts To Existing Poles
  • Available With Multiple Placards
  • 12VDC Operation (Down To 9VDC)
  • Supplemental Amber LED Illumination
  • Comes In Pairs for Both Sides of Crosswalk

The push button manual Smart Crosswalk™ activation mechanism is used when manual control of the enhanced crosswalk system is preferred.

Push button activation devices are placed at each end of the crosswalk entrances. Push button activation devices come in pairs per crosswalk.

Once activated, the controller initiates an Enlighten1™ flashing light sequence alerting motorists of pedestrians entering the crosswalk.

The duration of the flashing sequence can be adjusted to allow adequate street crossing time.

Available with multiple placard styles – Braille, left facing figure, right facing figure, directional arrows, text only, and audible voice message or sounds available upon request.

In-Surface Activation Device (ISAD)
LightGuard Systems Part Number: LGS-ISAD/UNIBOLLARD-SET
Description: Automatic Pedestrian Detection Sensor (Pair)

LightGuard Manual Push Button Device

ISAD

  • Simple Electrical Connections
  • 12VDC Operation

           (Down To 9VDC)

  • Directional Detecting Infrared Sensors
  • Signal Head Easily Mounts To Base Plate
  • Rugged Road Tested Signal Head Housing
  • Bullet Proof Clear Polycarbonate Plastic Lens Cover

The ISAD contains two infrared emitters set in precise alignment to the receivers inside a Uni-Bollard.

The pair is intended to be positioned at the entrance to a crosswalk where vehicular traffic and sidewalk configuration prohibits a second vertical bollard placement.

When the infrared beams are broken the system will automatically detect the presence of pedestrians and send a signal to the controller to activate the system.

The ISAD transmitters point upward slightly at the receivers in the Uni-Bollard located 1.5 ft above the mounting height of the ISAD. The ISAD is secured directly into the standard LGS 10" base plate or snow plow resistant CHS-14 base plate.

The ISAD base plate is installed in the road or into the walking surface so that the ISAD base plate is flush level with the surface. Other than co-planner elevation levels must be specified prior to manufacturing.
